Our Team

Dr. Love’s specialties include pediatrics, vision related learning disorders, and maximizing binocular vision. His relaxed attitude and quick wit put all his patients, young and not so young, at ease. Dr. Love comes to us from northern California, but spent some time on the East Coast earning his optometry degree at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. His interest in the visual issues that affect children led him to additional training with a pediatrics residency program at Pacific University. Dr. Love has earned his status as a native Oregonian by volunteering at vision screenings with the Special Olympics of Oregon and participating in Lions Club events throughout the state and has provided free eye care on several trips to low-income areas of Mexico. And yes, that’s his real name! Since his spouse is also an optometrist, their three kids are perpetually bored by eye trivia.  Dr. Love is also a (nearly) everyday bicycle commuter. If you come to your appointment by bike, feel free to lock it up to Dr. Love’s bike parked in the back lot of the office, at the staple in front of the office, or in the bike lot across the street at Por que No.

If you come to your appointment by bike, feel free to lock it up to Dr. Love’s bike parked in the back lot of the office, under the covered lot around the corner on 48th, or in the bike lot across the street at Por que No. Dr. Love is accepting new patients and is available for appointments Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday all day, and Saturdays.

Dr. McIlhattan treats the entire gamut of primary eye care, from glasses to glaucoma and contact lenses to conjunctivitis (pink eye.) A lifelong northwesterner he has lived continually in and around the Portland metro area since the 1980s. He is a graduate of Portland State University and got his optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove Oregon. He and his wife and daughter love to spend their time camping, biking and eating their way around the wilds of the metro area.

Nina has worked as an optician in several cities but is a Portland native. She believes that a frame is a personal reflection of style and with over 15 years experience she loves helping people find their new look. Just ask to see her Pinterest board of optical fashion! She takes pride in the precise and detailed work that is required of an optician. When not at work, you will find her hiking and swimming with her giant rescue pooch and planning her next adventure to travel the world.

Matthew is a native Oregonian born in Albany. He started in the optical field in 2013 and enjoys all areas of patient care including helping with your glasses or getting patients prepped for the doctor. Outside of work, he enjoys movies, the occasional video game, sports are a big part of his life. Make sure to chat about your favorite team if you get the opportunity to work with Matthew.

Meet Jaron. He comes to us from Chicago with 6+ years of experience in the optical field. Since his move, he has enjoyed all of the great hiking spots Oregon has to offer. In his free time, Jaron enjoys rooting on his favorite teams, the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues. He also enjoys searching through antique shops to find hidden treasures. Jarons friendly smile and outgoing personality sure to make you feel at home here at HVC!
